“Princess, I think maybe a smaller gun is the way to go today,” Torren says, and I narrow my eyes at him. “Not because you can’t handle it, but you do remember trying to shoot Dimitri a few weeks ago, right?” he hedges, and Luke snorts.

“I think a nice 9mm will be the best option today. They don’t have much kickback, so you and the baby will be safe while we do more research,” he says, pleading with me.

Of course, he’d say that. At least he’s appealing to my motherly sense, because Tor just kicked himself in the ass by bringing up the Dimitri incident. Jackass.

“You know what? Sure, we’ll go with that for now, then move on to knife practice.” I smile widely.

I love my knives. It’s been a while since I’ve been able to practice, and it always makes me feel better.

“Yes! I finally get to see these epic knife skills of yours!” Kristen hoots, and I laugh.

“After Lukas teaches me how to aim,” I say, and Torren pouts.

“I thought I was going to teach you,” he whines a little.

Kristen snorts, shaking her head at him. “That was before you pointed out her mistakes like a moron,” she taunts, and he moves over to me, wrapping his arms around my back.

“I want to teach you, babe. I’m sorry I mentioned the mishap from a few weeks ago.” He sticks his bottom lip out, clearly faking his pout to the extreme, but it’s also kind of fucking adorable.

An idea comes to mind, and I grin as I pull him tighter against me. “I’ll let you teach me how to shoot, if you let me throw knives at you.”

“Haliee, that… babe, that’s dangerous as fuck,” he says, looking a little nervous.

“As opposed to her shooting you?” Kristen taunts, and he sighs.

“Fine. Let me teach you how to shoot, and I will let you throw knives at me.” He winces. “Please don’t hit me, though. I’m not Creed. I don’t have a pain and blood kink.”

Lukas whistles, shaking his head as I smile and nod. “You got it. Teach away, my sexy man. You’re my favourite right now,” I squeal, pulling back to clap my hands excitedly.

“I’d have let you throw knives at me if I got that title,” Lukas mumbles, and I smirk.

“The more targets, the better. You can be my favourite too!”

He smirks, shaking his head as he grabs the gun and a few sets of headgear to muffle the sound before meeting the three of us at the shooting line.

Handing Kristen and I each a gun, he nods to Tor before turning to Kristen. “I can help you if you want,” Lukas offers, and she chuckles.

She says absolutely nothing, throwing on the gear before picking up the gun. I watch in awe as she takes the safety off, fixing her stance and shooting the target sheet a ways out.

“Jesus fuck!” Torren stares in shock at the dead-on shots she took.

“Fuck. That was hot, Kris. I may be a little damp for you,” I whimper, not fully kidding.
